User Reviews of Rootless Pixel 2 Launcher:
Google prefers to keep certain features exclusive to its own customers and doesn't offer them for download via the Play Store. However, as is well known, this hurdle only lasts for a few days or weeks and is sooner or later overcome by tinkerers. One developer has now succeeded in exporting the new Pixel Launcher directly from the Pixel 2 smartphones and porting it to many other devices. And in doing so, the developer has even pulled off a small feat.
Google's new Pixel Launcher offers very few innovations compared to last year, but these are nonetheless proving very popular. The most noticeable change is the relocation of the search bar, which is now placed at the bottom instead of the top, making it easier to reach with your thumb. Once you've used it, you'll soon wonder why you didn't think of it much sooner.
The space freed up at the top is occupied by a new "at a glance" function, which displays the date, weather, and upcoming appointments in the form of a widget. That's pretty much where the similarities end, as most of the new features, from Adaptive Icons to Notification Dots, are part of the operating system and are also available in many other launchers.
Only the continuous music recognition is currently exclusive to Pixel 2 smartphones and likely won't be available later – at least not through the standard method. It's possible to use the Shazam app, but not as a lock screen feature. You can find more information about this continuous music recognition in this article.
Final words:
Rootless Pixel 2 Launcher is the home screen experience for the Pixel and Pixel XL phones by Google. Personalized information from Google is just a swipe away.
