WAMR is a powerful software tool. This application offers a rich set of features that support the recovery of recently deleted messages and media files, including images, videos, audio, and GIFs, helping users retrieve these files. With WAMR, you can retrieve messages that the sender attempted to hide and easily save status updates shared by your friends. You can also set the saved image as your phone's home screen wallpaper to add a personalized touch to your device.
Highlights:
Enable Notifications: Ensure notifications are enabled for your messaging apps. Silent chats won't be recoverable.
Battery Optimization: Prevent Android from closing WAMR in the background by excluding it from battery optimization settings.
Download success: WAMR can only save media files that have been fully downloaded. A stable internet connection is recommended.
How it works:
For WAMR to work, it is important for you to always turn on your notifications as the messages that it backups are based on your notifications history. It has no direct access to the messages on your device most probably due to the high level of encryption by your messaging app. Once it detects a deleted chat, you will instantly receive a notification alert.
Concurrently, if a sender removes any picture, video, animated gif, audio, voice note, document, sticker, and so on, the app will also send an alert notification to your smartphone. Unfortunately, the deleted messages that you received even before you download this app is not retrievable anymore. If by chance the chats aren't saving, try to remove the application from all battery optimization services. Your android system is possibly killing it.
Bear in mind that the message should completely be downloaded for you to successfully save and read it. Thus, you must ensure that you are always connected to a stable mobile data or WiFi service so, you won't miss any important chats. Remember to change your messaging app's settings if you're no longer using your WiFi as this could possibly be a hindrance in downloading your media automatically.
Features:
Message recovery via notifications
WAMR creates a local backup from your notification history and alerts you when a message is deleted. It can only work if notifications are enabled for your chat apps and the conversation is not muted. Messages removed before installation cannot be retrieved.
Media attachments
Beyond text, media is supported when possible. Tries to save photos, videos, voice notes, audio, GIFs, and stickers from notifications. Works only after the media finishes downloading in the chat app. Recommends a stable internet connection for better success. Notifies you when a sender deletes a media file, if it was already downloaded.
Read without sending read receipts
You can read captured message content from notifications without opening the chat, which avoids sending read receipts. This relies on the backup created from notifications and does not change any settings in your chat app.
Privacy, setup, and limits
After you download WAMR, grant notification access and exclude it from battery optimization to keep it running in the background. All saved content stays on your device. Results can vary by Android version and the messaging app. Status download is not supported.
Pros & Cons:
Pros
Recover deleted messages and media
Fresh download statuses capability
Completely free
Ability to download and save
Cons
Requires stable internet connection
Deleted messages received before downloading the app can no longer be retrieved
Final Words:
All the erased messages you recover will go into your message history. Likewise, photos will go into your recovered images history, where you can view the exact date and time they were sent. WAMR is an interesting app thanks to which you'll never again be left wondering what someone said to you before deleting the message. Do keep in mind, though, that if you want to retrieve messages, you can't have the chat silenced.
