A wise Captain never forgets his primary objectives, and defending your base in Standard mode is the top priority, as losing it means defeat. During the first minutes of battle, it's crucial to play defensively and only consider a counterattack once your base is perfectly safe.

Repel the initial enemy onslaught and whittle down their numbers while preserving as much of your HP pool as possible. This approach will help balance the forces, and once the fight evens out, it will be your time to counterattack. Since your force will be sailing higher-tier ships, it won't take much effort to finish off the rest of the enemy fleet once the enemy loses their numerical advantage.

It is very fun, and probably the least "grindy" free to play game I own. It is still a long grind, but it is possible to go from bottom to top in a week of playing, if your good. The game has held my attention for the past decade.It is not a simulator, it is arcadey, and that makes it significantly more fun than war thunder naval.

I came back from time to time.It's good for 1h or 2h each playtime, and each game is, at max, 20 minutes (it's limited time per game).It's easy to learn and hard to master.If you get frustrated with PvP there are PvE options and they are a mix of fun, relaxed or challenging, you can take your pick.There are also plenty of events to keep things interesting and motivate you to return.It does get grindy by the mid to end stages, that's why I end up stopping from time to time, but I return because the gameplay is nice and the ships are cool.
